Year 2 Excursion to AQWA

Year 2 Excursion to AQWA (Rooms 6 & 7)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

To support the Recount Writing and Report Writing genres, Year 2’s (Rooms 6 and 7) will be attending an excursion to AQWA.

AQWA is a very visual experience; students will be surrounded by living marine animals on an underwater journey. On this journey they will also have the opportunity to experience other visual media such as; signage; underwater footage shown in our feature exhibits: DANGER zone and Coral Reef, magnifying glasses and DVD presentations. To make the most of their visit, students need to not just look, but to observe the marine life and read the accompanying signage to develop a deeper understanding and awareness.

While at AQWA students will be participating in the following activities:

  1. Visit to all of AQWA’s exhibitions
  2. Wildlife Rescue Turtle Talk
  3. Meet Our Rescue Turtles
  4. Hands-on Turtle Researcher Activity
  5. Complete AQWA Excursion Activity Pack
